3 Power Verses for When You’re Feeling Weak

Feeling weak, overwhelmed, or burned out? You’re not alone. Even heroes of the faith like Moses, Elijah, and Paul experienced hard times and needed encouragement. The Bible is filled with promises for those moments when we don’t feel strong enough.

These power verses remind us that God’s strength is made perfect in our weakness, and that He invites us to trust in Him for rest and renewal.

Here are 3 Bible verses to strengthen and encourage you!

       1.   Psalm 46:1

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.”

Every one of us will face seasons where we are calling out to God for help. The beauty is that when we call out to Him, He hears us. God is never busy, distracted, or unavailable, and we are never alone. We must remember that in victory and in trouble, God is our strength and our refuge. Instead of running to other people or the things of this world for comfort and peace, run to God. He is our helper and comforter. He is ready and waiting!

       2.   Matthew 11:28-30

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Many times, when we feel weak, it is because we are burned out and overwhelmed. We must understand that God wants us to prioritize rest. When we are feeling weak and exhausted, we need to come to Him. It is in these times that we need to prayerfully lay down the things He has not asked us to do.

Strength and joy come when we are walking in His plans for our lives, not ours. Often this looks like letting go of “good things” that He did not ask us to do. Simply put, they may not be the “God things” He has for us. We can be confident that whatever He has for us is good and will not cause us to be overwhelmed.

       3.   2 Corinthians 12:8-9

“Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me.  But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.”

Like Paul, we will sometimes experience thorns in life that seem too much to bear. But as Paul points out, when we are weak, we discover how strong and sufficient our God is. We must realize that our weakness just reminds us that we are not God. He is the only One who is all-powerful and has no weakness. We do not have to be ashamed of our weaknesses. Instead, we can celebrate that God is our never-ending source of strength. Even in our weakness, He still uses us for His purposes!
